X-Rite’s new online training help printers onboard new technology

Colour Solutions

X-Rite and Pantone have announced new colour measurement and digital workflow e-learning courses specifically designed for printers and converters.

Taught by X-Rite colour scientists and print application experts, this extensive library of courses and on-demand webinars helps new and experienced print operators improve their colour knowledge, implement innovative technologies, and leverage colour management best practices.

‘Whether you are looking to grow your colour management knowledge, onboard new employees, or learn best practices, X-Rite has the online training resources to help users learn at their own pace,’ said Carlos Borda, director print and packaging, x-Rite. ‘Print operators can learn from X-Rite colour experts with decades of experience how to improve quality and efficiency by implementing colour measurement equipment, software, and spectral data within each step of the design to print production process.’

Educational and solution e-learning courses for printers

Fundamentals of Colour and Appearance (FOCA): This six module course explains the basics of colour theory and how to communicate both colour and colour differences. It covers the physics of colour, the role of lighting, spectrophotometers and colour data, how to view colour, and much more. This course is available through X-Rite and Coursera.

Going Beyond Density: Predictable, repeatable colour starts with a consistent process. This course focuses on achieving optimal process control on an offset press by moving beyond measuring just the density of solid inks and introduces tools and methodologies to help printers establish a more controlled press environment.

eXact 2 Training: Designed to help train new users and easily onboard employees, this course features 24 self paced videos that explain and demonstrate how to use the eXact 2 handheld spectrophotometer and ecosystem of software. The videos walk users through the device features and settings and explain how to take measurements, use colour libraries and profiles, leverage quality control and reporting software, and maintain the device.

ColorCert Press Operator and ColorCert QA Tools Operator Training: Designed for packaging and label print suppliers that work with brand quality control programs, these two courses help press operators and print personnel get up to speed quickly with ColorCert. The ColorCert Press Operator Training introduces users to the ColorCert 5.0 interface starting with how to launch the program and load a job, then takes a user all the way through how to analyse data, determine acceptability, and complete a job. The ColorCert QA Tools training covers how to use QA tools, create standards, measure trials, save and leverage data, and configure reporting.

On-demand webinars

In addition, X-Rite offers free on-demand webinars that range from 10 to 60 minutes in length and cover a variety of topics including print and packaging trends, colour management tips, technology advances, and how to overcome common colour challenges. Popular webinars include:

Tips to achieve accurate colour on flexible packaging.
