Siegwerk has announces the launch of its new business partner code of conduct.

As a family owned business with a history spanning two centuries, Siegwerk recognises its profound responsibility to uphold human rights and safeguard the environment. This new code of conduct is a testament to its dedication to building resilient operations and supply chains, reflecting both legal obligations and moral imperatives.

The code is rooted in the company’s human rights guiding principles, emphasising risk acknowledgment, knowledge seeking, collaboration, stakeholder focus, and continuous improvement. It sets clear expectations for suppliers and business partners, encouraging transparency and proactive engagement to address human rights and environmental risks.

The company has developed a ‘Siegwerk sustainability checklist’ to identify and address high priority issues. Partners are encouraged to disclose any severe non compliance issues and work collaboratively with it to develop action plans and timelines for improvement. ‘We value transparency and support our business partners in addressing human and environmental issues in our shared supply chain,’ said Cathleen Hansohm, global supplier sustainability manager.

Immediate action is required for severe breaches, with a focus on improvement for affected stakeholders. Siegwerk also expects its partners to extend these principles throughout their supply chains, fostering a culture of ethical and sustainable practices.

‘Our new business partner code of conduct is a significant step towards ensuring that our values of sustainability and ethical practices are shared across our entire supply chain. We invite our business partners to join the journey towards a packaging industry, which is truly sustainable for people and the planet – today and in the future,’ said Alina Marm, head of global sustainability and circular economy and human rights officer.
