Rubika 4.5 streamlines offset to digital print migration

Software Solutions

Solimar Systems has unveiled the latest version of its Rubika document re-engineering solution. Rubika 4.5 introduces a simplified user interface for some of the more complex tasks and workflow efficiencies at its core, enabling customers to streamline implementations and achieve significant savings within their businesses.

Rubika is renowned for adding value to existing documents with a modular suite of post composition document re-engineering capabilities that maximise postal discounts, add barcodes for insertion control, modify finishing, automate device load balancing, and enable white paper workflows. It is part of Solimar’s Chemistry platform, integrated with other workflow and data optimising, document enhancing and job tracking solutions.

New benefits in Rubika 4.5 include a De-Imposition Module. This new module converts already imposed PDFs into one-up PDFs. Pre-imposed documents such as offset books, catalogues, labels, ID cards and postcards can now be printed on cut sheet devices or published online or in archive systems. The PDFs can also be re-imposed with Rubika's Imposition Module to set up jobs for printing on digital inkjet presses and even parsed into smaller booklets with added personalisation.

‘Rubika’s popularity is largely driven by the substantial revenue opportunities and operational cost savings it brings our customers. Our client testimonials speak to the value of its capabilities. The features in version 4.5 demonstrate our commitment to expanding the ways that Rubika underpins the successes of our clients,’ stated Mary Ann Rowan, chief experience officer.

In addition to De-Imposition, Rubika v4.5 also includes:

  • Scale and Shift Module – new features in this module enable users to keep or adjust the aspect ratio when scaling the page content and to control whether page content is centred in the output.

  • Redesigned UI for Separator Sheets and Commingling Module – the configuration of separator sheets (aka banner and trailer pages) have been updated making the set up more intuitive. The separator sheet is now represented in the PDF viewing area, where users can visually change the location and content of the text that is added to the sheet.

  • Rubika's Commingling Module has been streamlined to make the step easier to configure with a consolidated central interface instead of multiple dialogue boxes.

The enhancements boost user productivity with an improved user experience requiring fewer clicks while hiding more advanced options until needed. These updates reduce staff training time and improve overall user satisfaction.

Mary Ann concluded, ‘We strive to solve difficult problems for our customers by delivering powerful, economical, and configurable off the shelf, DIY software. We are very proud that Rubika has transformed the way that highly variable and personalised communications are produced. We encourage Rubika users to take advantage of the many benefits of version 4.5.’
