Robot Arm system supports operator free Horizon BQ-270V binder

Finishing Solutions

Round the clock operation that eliminates human touchpoints for repetitive, simple, on-demand book production, is now possible with the new Robot Arm system on the Horizon BQ-270V single clamp perfect binder.

The innovative approach has been developed to support an increasing number of print operations seeking simpler print to bind capabilities to better streamline the variety of jobs they are required to manage and the shorter turnaround times they need to meet.

The Robot Arm system can support a production speed of up to 300 books per hour, offers a maximum thickness of 40mm and format sizes of A4, A5 and A4E.

Key features include:

Labour saving – enabling operators to work on other more value added applications reducing costs and increasing return on investment.

Easy switching – managing simple jobs but capable of switching to an operator for more complex work.

Variable book production – handling book of one production with just a black mark and no need for a barcode.

Barcode verification – supporting barcode verification between the printing and binding process with the correct order and no missing pages.

Auto book registration – ensuring registration at the in-feeding process.

End to end solution with cut sheet digital printers – being able to run off line, near line and in line in a wide range of configurations.

‘The Robot Arm has been designed to offer a cost effective operator free alternative for operations completing simple, on demand, variable, short runs and runs of one,’ explained IFS managing director Eric Keane. ‘It is ideal for production environments running a two or three shift pattern who are struggling with staffing issues. It is also an effective way to ensure social distancing measures are adhered to in busy binderies.’

The Robot Arm is now available.
