Premier, one of the leading suppliers of paper and materials for print, is due to sponsor the Environmental Excellence category at the 2025 Sign Industry Awards.
Coinciding with Sign & Digital UK, the Sign Industry Awards are set to take place on Monday 24 February 2025 and will celebrate excellence in the sign and display sector, recognising outstanding suppliers, sign makers, and individual traders in sign making, digital printing and visual communications.
Steve Jones, director display sheets and thermoplastics UK and Ireland, commented: ‘As exhibitors at Sign & Digital it was a natural fit for Premier to support the Sign Industry Awards as well. We want to help celebrate the great work of the industry’s sign makers, printers and designers, and what better way than sponsoring the award which recognises Environmental Excellence, an important subject that’s very close to Premier.’
Premier, which launched its Display Graphics division at Sign & Digital UK in 2019, is a company that is not a strangers when it comes to the topic of sustainability. The merchant has maintained a strong focus on offering product choice to the market with an emphasis on the growing demand for sustainable products and solutions. The addition of fibre based display boards like Ultraboard and Oppboga Excellent Display, has offered more eco friendly options to customers looking for recyclable materials for internal retail displays.
Whilst products like Drytac Paper Fleece, Contra Vision Advance and eTEC Air Bubble Board, provide PVC free solutions for sign and display projects.
It doesn’t just stop with product choice though, Premier is also proactive when it comes to environmental initiatives and schemes, Carbon Capture for example is in its 13th year and has supported the funding of 119,869 trees across the UK, which have the potential to capture an estimated 519,132 tonnes of CO₂ over the trees’ lifetime.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Premier would be collaborating with FESPA UK and key industry suppliers to launch the latest part of the Waste Management Accreditation Scheme. This pioneering initiative aims to help businesses in the print, signage, and graphics industry achieve greater sustainability and operational efficiency.
‘At Premier, we are committed to helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals. This accreditation supports responsible waste and helps to create a better tomorrow,’ sid Brad West, director of wide format media (UK and Ireland).
Since its inception, the Waste Management Accreditation Scheme has gained widespread acclaim, with multiple businesses reaping the benefits of enhanced sustainability and cost efficiency. The accreditation currently includes graphics materials such as ACM, rigid boards, foam PVC, PVC banners, and polyester fabrics. As well as the more challenging materials to sustainably dispose including the likes of the self-adhesive face plastics and siliconised backing papers.
This scheme addresses these challenges, providing comprehensive recycling solutions to clients and helping them attain their own accreditation logo and certification, which can be proudly displayed on their website, corporate stationary, e-mail banners and much more.
By working together under the FESPA UK, Premier and its partners are leading the charge towards a greener more circular future, ensuring compliance, potential cost savings, and offering a complete scope of solutions to maximise their customers' sustainability potential.
