Kolbus recently hosted an open house at its Rahden headquarters in Germany. Around 200 European visitors attended the three day event and saw new developments demonstrated in luxury packaging, corrugated packaging, and book casemaking machines.
Greg Bird, Kolbus UK managing director, was at the event and said: ‘Both the number and quality of key decision makers attending justified the decision to host this event so soon after travel possibilities opened up. The open house provided opportunities to network and discuss customers industries and businesses. They were then able to see live machine demonstrations and to discuss the new developments throughout the Kolbus range.’
Unveiled for the first time was the Kolbus RD115S flexo rotary die cutter. The two daily production demonstrations were extremely well received with many visitors opting to spend more time investigating the advantages the RD115S showed in high speed corrugated box production.
During the open house the Kolbus box line wrapper, the BLW 200, was demonstrated. The machine was wrapping and laminating cardboard blanks to produce a three-part slip lid box for the luxury packaging market. Live format changes took place without the need for retooling of the laminating stations.
Autobox boxmaking machines were also on show – the AutoBox AB 310 producing folding cartons from single to heavy duty triple corrugated board. The MultiNova MN 400 multi point gluer was demonstrated gluing die cut boxes which had been produced on the Kolbus RD115S.
Faster production for hard case book covers and digital print processing was shown with the newly redesigned Kolbus DA370 running at up to 65 cycles per minute. The Kolbus DA 370 Digital is configurable for fast high quality production and less makeready time. Up to 50% more output can be achieved in digital mode for photo book cases and digital print finishing.
In addition to demonstrating this range of new equipment the open house generated orders placed at the event, including several orders for Kolbus Autobox machines from European customers.
