Kodak announces full scale commercialisation of new Sonora Ultra process free plates in Europe

Print Solutions

Kodak has announced it will upgrade its Sonora Xtra-3 customers in Europe to the latest innovation in the line – the Sonora Ultra process free plates.

Sonora Ultra plates were introduced at drupa in 2024 as a premium product with significant performance improvements over competitive offerings and the Sonora Xtra-3 process free plates currently used by many Kodak customers in Europe. Performance advantages include image contrast (up to nine times stronger than competitive products), white light exposure tolerance (five times better) and plate image stability (up to six weeks when stored in the dark).

Kodak is now moving to full scale production.

By manufacturing high quality plates in Osterode, the company continues to offer customers in European countries fast and reliable delivery to help maximise their productivity.

‘Kodak is dedicated to providing our customers with the best products and solutions, including leading edge process free technology. We are excited to make our newest, Sonora Ultra plates widely available in Europe. The unmatched performance of Sonora Ultra plates will set a new benchmark for the performance of process free plates and help our customers further improve their operations,’ commented Jim Continenza, executive chairman and chief executive officer, Kodak.
