Epson has extended its SurePress series of digital label presses by announcing two significant developments. One of these is the addition of a new SurePress L-6534VW with orange ink, offering an extended colour gamut, high productivity and print quality. The other is a major upgrade to the SurePress 4000 series with the new L-4733A/AW models. With a new ink system and refinements to the drying process, this new press will deliver higher productivity on filmic substrates. These advances better position the SurePress UV ink and aqueous ink presses to meet the needs of customers in sectors from food and beverages, through cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, to industrial and household goods.
The New SurePress L-6534VW with orange Ink, complements the existing L-6534VW with digital varnish, delivering print speeds up to 50 metres per minute for high volume applications.
By using CMYK plus orange ink to widen the colour gamut, plus a high opacity white ink included as standard, users can reproduce spot colours more accurately. The digital press uses Epson’s LED-UV pinning system to control ink spread for finer tonal gradation, sharper images and vivid colours. This takes colour accuracy and consistency to new levels, providing customers with more tailored choices to meet their requirements. The L-6534VW with orange ink prints on a wide range of paper and film substrates, and offers low running costs and high productivity. The touch panel interface simplifies operation, and the product also features Epson’s proprietary Nozzle Verification Technology (NVT) and automatic head maintenance, to reduce waste and minimise manual intervention by the operator.
A significant upgrade to the 4000 series is the introduction of the SurePress L-4733A/AW. The 4000 series delivers high levels of quality and reliability and uses water based ink that can print on both paper and film substrates.
With the SurePress L-4733A/AW the AQ ink system has been further developed to offer improved wettability to provides a number of advantages, such as improved image quality and colour stability. This allows label converters and commercial printers to achieve higher productivity and dependable performance on a greater variety of substrates.
The SurePress L-4733A/AW uses a CMYKOG ink set, offering a large gamut for excellent colour accuracy and saturation, and the inclusion of white and uncoated black inks expands substrate flexibility. Newly automated maintenance features further reduce downtime to improve productivity and reliability.
Epson manufactures its own inks and can control every aspect of production. The company has invested significantly in systems and hygienic control process and applies good manufacturing practices. The SurePress 6000 and 4000 series inks comply with European Food Contact material regulations for food packaging.
The SurePress range is also supported by Epson Remote Diagnostics and a worldwide service network to keep users running at peak performance.
‘The SurePress range of label presses has a worldwide reputation for quality and versatility,’ said Trish Jones, product manager for SurePress. ‘We are continuously developing our technology, and this announcement shows our clear commitment to meeting the evolving needs of customers.’
