Packaging Solutions
Durham Box has recently worked with long standing customer, Northumbrian Gifts, to develop stand out packaging for thee 500 ml bottled beer products. The family run business based in Ashington, which offers a wide range of authentic, high quality items from the local area, including beer, wine, cider, spirits and local produce, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
The design, which features a wraparound historical map and imagery of the locality, including the iconic Sycamore Gap, was crafted from 180 cc/120 bk e-flute and digitally printed on Durham Box’s Nozomi C18000 digital press. Including a tuck in top closure, the design choice not only highlights the technical capabilities of the digital press, but also aligns with Northumbrian Gifts’ sustainability goals, being fully recyclable.
Katrina Wanless, business owner and director of Northumbrian Gifts, said: ‘I am thrilled with the outcome of this collaboration. The packaging Durham Box has developed not only embodies the essence of our brand and Northumbrian heritage, but it is also practical and eco friendly. I am particularly impressed with how easy it is to wrap and carry while providing a secure fit for safe transportation.’
Durham Box’s Sally Caton said, ‘Working with Northumbrian Gifts is always a rewarding experience. This particular project allowed us to showcase our digital printing strengths and produce a package that stands out for its design, functionality and environmental credentials.’
This collaboration underscores Durham Box's ability to create sustainable, functional and visually appealing packaging solutions, setting new standards in the packaging industry. The company looks forward to continuing its fruitful relationship with Northumbrian Gifts, with exciting plans for a bespoke gifting range in 2024.
Durham Box will be exhibiting on stand M66 at the Packaging Innovations exhibition being held at Birmingham’s NEC on 21 and 22 February 2024.
