A new online resource focused exclusively on hand printed and digitised letterpress assets has been launched by creative start up, Fleckled.

All the letters, numerals and other assets in this collection have been hand printed and then digitised as high resolution files. Showcasing the aesthetic power of genuine letterpress, the Fleckled.com store has been launched to make these timeless assets available to a new generation of creatives – from teams in graphic design agencies, publishing houses and media organisations to independent artisans.
Fleckled’s extensive and rare letterpress archive features over 150 fonts, as well as borders, ornaments and other traditional assets. From Art Nouveau to industrial style, each typeface set comprises either a full alphabet (A to Z) in upper case or lower case, or a complete set of numerals (0 to 9), with some discounted bundles also offered. Every download includes two variations – a densely inked version for a fuller print output and a lightly pressed one for a more distressed look. A short description of the provenance of each font is also provided.
All the assets in the Fleckled.com collection have been printed by hand, using traditional methods, on an original ‘Columbian’ printing press (circa 1860), with the process repeated for each individual block until the ideal impressions were achieved.

‘The small flaws in the h nd-carved wooden blocks are what give letterpress its distinctive character and enduring appeal,’ explained Jason Pattinson, CEO of Fleckled. ‘Visible defects, woodgrain, planing patterns and wear effects have been balanced through various levels of inking and pressure to achieve the optimal dense and distressed versions.’
The number of assets available on the platform is constantly growing, as further fonts from the archive are digitised and existing ones are pre-styled.
