Spectrum Printing upgrades its cutting

Print Solutions

The first Welsh company to take a Speedmaster CX 75 last year, Spectrum Printing, has placed another order with Heidelberg UK, this time round for a Polar 92N Plus. It will replace an older 2005 Polar model when it is delivered next month.

The 92 cm format is right for the B2 production that this company specialises in and it likes the higher productivity of the new model, possible because of the faster knife change, higher speed and greater programmability. That makes it a great match for the Speedmaster CX 75 which, with its double circumference impression cylinders, fires out work across a range of stock to top quality levels.

The Polar 92N Plus can cut paper, board and even plastic foils so is very versatile. Typically, the work it will handle at Spectrum Printing is brochures, booklets, leaflets and flyers. Operators will like its ease of use.

‘We updated our CTP and printing technology two years ago so now the focus is on the finishing. We need to eliminate bottlenecks in the bindery and wanted another reliable guillotine that is easy to use and productive and we continue to be very happy to work with the Polar brand, supported by Heidelberg UK,’ said Lawrence Corria, managing director of the Cardiff company.

As lead printer in the All Wales Printing Services Framework (Lot 2) for medium volume print, Spectrum Printing handles work for the Welsh Assembly Government, Welsh councils and other government funded organisations as well as design agencies and a variety of businesses throughout the UK.
