Continued advances and growth at Baker Labels prompted managing director Steve Baker to add to the company’s Print Bureau capabilities at the trade label printing factory in Brentwood, Essex. As a reel to reel trade label printer, Baker Labels’ recent investments have focused on increased digital capabilities (Screen Truepress 350+UV LM) and advanced quality finishing (two ABG Digicon finishers in the summer of 2018) however customer requests come in all shapes, sizes and quantities and Bakers’ sales team always want to be in a position to provide competitive quotes to trade. Purchased from Smart Print, the £70,000 investment addition of the Pro C7200x provides Bakers with the option to offer ultra short run labels work as well as a variety of further tricks and optional extras to customer projects.
The digital quality of the ProC7200x is exceptional and with five stations of ink to include the options of special colours and toners such as white, clear, invisible red, neon pink and yellow there are exciting opportunities on offer for customers and their graphic design teams.
The high speed printing of 95 pages per minute for A4 and 53 pages per minute for A3 brings an efficient use of operator time without any loss of quality. The new press has automatic quality control technology, calibration and registration alongside mechanical registration and extras such as a media management tool that allows clear and simple identification of the media before printing begins. It is capable of printing on paper weight from 52.3 to 360 g/m2 up to a length of 1260 mm and can also print envelopes, synthetics and metallics.
An in line finisher to create booklets from duplex print work on the C7200x brings a new option to Bakers’ Print Bureau that already hosts two Ricoh Pro C5100s, a Matrix laminator, Roland Versa UV Inkjet, Graphtec Cutting Plotter and a Roland Soljet proIII wide format printer.
Steve Baker, managing director at Baker Labels, said: ‘Whilst our main focus is on the roll label market the quality that can be achieved on these presses help to compliment our offerings. Ultra short runs, proofing and mock ups with embellishment effects can be produced in a cost effective way without using up the main presses.’
