Signs Express Bath has become a member of The Planet Mark Sustainability scheme. This scheme is designed to help improve the sustainability of businesses in the Wiltshire, Somerset and South Gloucestershire area. It believes that every business can have positive impacts on society and the environment. When it comes to sustainability, we all have a part to play.
Mark Collins, owner of Signs Express Bath attended a ‘Planet Mark Start! Workshop’ and came away with a sustainability business plan to help us reduce our negative impact on the local and global environment.
The company has agreed to work on the three main areas of change: 1) Recycling of non-commercial plastic and cardboard waste. 2) Find a new vinyl that has reduced plastic content. 3) Add a biodegradable product to its range. The company has already put this plan into action. It now has a recycling unit for rubbish, allowing the separation of recyclable waste from general waste. This is then recycled on a weekly basis. Second, it has sourced a new vehicle wrap vinyl which is made using a non PVC polymer material and a phthalate free film. This has enabled Sign Express to offer an eco friendly alternative, instead of traditional PVC vinyl for vehicle graphics. Thirdly, the company has sourced a new 100% biodegradable board. This Eco Board is a perfect alternative to soft foam boards, foam PVC and plastic composites. It is perfect for hoarding, short term promotional posters and advertising materials. It is fully recyclable and easily reused, in fact it can be recycled up to eight times. This material is compostable and biodegradable which allows it to be disposed of in the normal paperboard waste stream. It is also FSC certified. 'We are excited to be adding more eco friendly materials to our range. We can now give our customers more choice over the type of materials they wish to use and offer a more sustainable option. All these small changes can help make a real impact on our local community and environment,’ said Mark.
Since opening, Mark Collins and his highly-skilled team have already completed several impressive projects and are now excited to put this sustainable business plan in place.
