Pregis Ltd has partnered with Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue and The Prince’s Trust Team Programme in order to provide work experience opportunities to disadvantaged young people aged 16 to 25.

Team is a 12 week full time development programme which is delivered from five locations within Hertfordshire including Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn and Hatfield, Stevenage and North Herts and Hoddesdon. The Programme is offered to those aged between 16 and 25 who are unemployed or at risk of unemployment through underachievement in education, those leaving care, single parents, refugees and asylum seekers and those with disabilities.

This inspiring programme is free to attend for all young people who are eligible without affecting any benefits they may be receiving. Over the years, the programme has produced remarkable results with three out of four candidates moving into employment after completing the course.

The programme helps young people to build skills and confidence and enables them to:

  • Achieve a qualification.

  • Go on an action packed residential week.

  • Gain work experience and leadership skills.

  • Receive useful training that employers look for.

  • Complete projects in the local community.

  • Build confidence and make friends to help lead to brighter prospects in the future.

Pregis has partnered with the Stevenage and North Herts Team which has been operating in the area for two years and has successfully seen 96 young people complete the programme and go on to work and apprenticeships.

Through the Team Programme, Pregis will welcome young people into its manufacturing plant in Stevenage to gain work experience which could then lead to further employment opportunities. The Team members will be fully supported with a personal mentor to enable them to get the very best from the experience and help them to choose a career path or even join the Pregis team as a trainee.

The Fire Service Prince’s Trust Association exists to promote the partnership between the Fire & Rescue Service (FRS) and The Prince’s Trust for the benefit of young people. The regular meetings give all FRS’s an opportunity to create a source of best practice for the delivery of work with young people in the service. It is a source of help and advice via the FRS network. This best practice not only guides FRS to deliver excellence in the programmes they deliver behalf of The Prince's Trust, but also in their wider work with children and young people.
