The Casemaker 650 is now available from Ashgrove. This is a revolutionary new piece of equipment for on-demand digital production of hardback book cases and paper over board ringbinders. This heavy duty machine works with standard digitally printed sheets and various other bookbinding materials, together with pre-formed ‘planos’: low cost coverboards with a heat sensitive resin coating which are available in a variety of sizes up to 30 x 30 cm when closed. The Casemaker mounts the sheets onto the cover using heat and pressure, and the integral Spinepress forms the steel reinforced book spine with one pull of the handle.
Ashgrove’s Rolf Smith enthused, ‘The equipment is excellent quality and the process is ridiculously simple; lay your cover print onto the pre-made cover, place in the sealing drawer for 10 seconds, fold in the corners and repeat 10 second sealing for the reverse, place in the Spinepress, pull the handle down and it is done! What is generally known as a difficult and skilled process, can now be done by anyone with no mess and in as little as two minutes.’
Another feature of this system is that the finished cases come complete with glue pre-inserted into the spine, enabling the internal pages to be easily inserted by the end user; the only equipment needed is a thermal desktop Unibinder.
This make the system perfect for high profile tender documents, photo books, short run books, bespoke ringbinders; when it is this simple any document can be turned into a beautiful book, greatly adding to the value of the finished product!
