Reproflex 3 has enhanced production flexibility and increased workflow capacity following investment in a Roland Soljet Pro 4 XR-640 large format printer/cutter printer from Oris Packaging Innovations.
Established in 1996, Reproflex 3 specialises in pre-press FMCG packaging services and flexographic printing plate production. The operation is enjoying 20% year on year growth and has 35 employees at its facilities in the north and south of England. It is also expanding its presence in India and Dubai.
‘Our UK mock up division is growing rapidly,’ explained managing director Trevor Lowes. ‘Customers want fast turnaround, brand consistent shelf ready mock ups. As a result, the process has to be quick, efficient and of a very high quality.’
The latest addition continues a long standing relationship with Oris Packaging Innovations. Reproflex 3 previously invested in an Oris Flex Pack system with a Roland VersaCamm VS-300i inkjet printer with XG inks and a VersaUV LEF300 flatbed UV inkjet printer.
Trevor continued, ‘We were comfortable with the quality, consistency and reliability but were getting to a point where a lot of overtime was needed to meet demand. We decided we needed a bigger system that could increase our capacity but also handle larger sheet sizes for greater productivity and to give us more flexibility. The Soljet Pro 4 XR-640 was the perfect system for us.’
With its two in line, mirrored printheads, integrated printing and contour cutting technology, and Oris Extended Gamut XG inks utilising CMYK, orange, green, white and metallic configuration, the XR-640 delivers maximum versatility and productivity.
The impact was felt immediately and Trevor stated, ‘We have increased capacity by as much as 40%. We expect it to pay for itself in 12 months because of the flexibility we now have. We were turning work away before but now have taken on a new salesperson to make the most of the extra capabilities.’
At the same time the mock up service has been growing in Reproflex 3’s Dubai office. It will be supported by the Roland VersaCamm VS-300i.
Trevor added, ‘We are working with a lot of brands in the region as they continue to make the move from gravure to flexo. We expect this side of the business to grow as rapidly as it did in the UK and this system perfectly supports that service.’
