Purfect Binding Company invests in Renz trio

Print Solutions

When Michael Irving set up trade finishing operation Purfect Binding Company to meet a market need, he chose Renz systems to ensure a high quality wire binding service.

For the Leeds business, he picked a Renz AP360 high speed automatic punching system, a Renz Mobi 500 ring wire binding solution and a Renz Punch 500 ES.

Michael explained, ‘When we were looking at potential markets, wiro-binding and punching were definitely on the short list. They support endless design and substrate possibilities as well as a wide range of sizes, colours and layouts. The lay flat characteristics was also a benefit that couldn’t be overlooked.

‘I had no problem in choosing the Renz systems because for many years I have witnessed the high quality results they produce. Also, the build and performance of the machinery is exemplary and their ease of use and accuracy, in my eyes, makes Renz the market leader by far.’

The AP360 features a two finger paper pick up system, which can handle a range of mixed stock, fast die changes, and has optional two part split dies for book and calendar work. It has the additional option of a touch screen with job memory which aids set up, together with a paternoster feeding system for continuous production.

He continued, ‘The AP360 is an excellent machine. When keeping with in the same punching head eg 3:1 0r 4:1, it sets up in minutes and the continuity of quality is near on perfect. This what PBC is all about – quality.’

It sits alongside the user friendly Renz Mobi 500. The flexible, semi-automatic ring wire binding solution for books, calendars and skip binding can handle different paper formats and oversized products up to 260 sheets. A touch screen also aids a short set up process.

‘It is a quick setting and very versatile machine, coping with a vast array of sizes and formats,’ added Michael. ‘These two machines work well together producing up to 800 books per hour.’

Last but not least is the versatile Renz P500 ES. It can handle all types of books and calendar punching production with ring wire, plastic comb and coil options. It enables fast die changes and incorporates 2-part split dies for book and calendar work. It has a QSA (Quick Size Adjustment) for high flexibility of different paper formats, horizontal paper feeding and can handle a wide range of mixed stocks.

Michael said, ‘It is a small power house of a machine, built to last and robust enough to punch up to 4 mm thick. This gives us the option for thick plastics, paper on board and case bound covers, all adding to the marketing width of the company.’

He concluded, ‘Moving forward all the machines will fall into place and support the business’s projected plans. They will also deliver top value, great customer service and an excellent high quality product.’
