Final call for the Better with Less – Design Challenge

Packaging Solutions

Last November, Metsä Board announced the Better with Less – Design Challenge. The deadline for entries is now fast approaching.

Billions of consumer packages are used globally every day, and the amount is growing. Metsä Board’s Better with Less – Design Challenge aims to find new, more environmentally friendly packaging solutions for some of the most frequently used and fastest growing types of consumer goods.

A large number of great entries have already been received from all over the world. Competition chairman Cyril Drouet is excited that this environmentally important challenge has attracted so much positive attention, and also how many new sustainable packaging design ideas have already been submitted. ‘The most exciting entries thus far show an awareness of ecological implications together with enthusiasm for imagining new lifestyles and a determination to change the packaging world,’ Cyril said.

Innovative packaging designers still have a chance to participate to the competition: submissions will be accepted through March 31, 2018, at: www.betterwithless.org

Future designers now have two chances to win with just one great idea, since the Better with Less – Design Challenge is collaborating with Pro Carton’s Young Designers Award.

The main prize for the Better with Less – Design Challenge is EUR 10,000. The competition is also open to students, and Metsä Board will offer as an additional prize the opportunity of an internship for one student with its packaging services team in Shanghai. The finalists and winners will be announced during Spring 2018.
